CROWN Point — A guy was arrested early Friday soon after breaking into an apartment, gouging a woman’s eye and stabbing a further lady in the arm with a steel fork, Schererville police said.

Charles McCloud Smith, 28, of Merrillville, is accused of telling both of those girls, “You might be likely to die,” even though attacking them.

Smith fled the women’s apartment in the 1400 block of Grandview Courtroom in Schererville, but he was arrested later on that morning soon after crashing into one more vehicle at Merrillville Street and 93rd Avenue during a pursuit involving Merrillville police, Schererville Deputy Law enforcement Chief Jeff Cook stated.

Just one of the gals, who has a baby with Smith, informed law enforcement Smith suspected her of talking to Portage police about him getting a suspect in a modern theft there, according to Lake Criminal Court data.

The females told Schererville law enforcement they were asleep about 3:50 a.m. Friday when Smith broke into their condominium through a sliding glass door on a second-floor balcony, data present.

1 of the girls said she awoke to see Smith standing more than her. She got up to alert her roommate, and Smith knocked her down and pushed his fingers into her eyes, in accordance to court docket paperwork. 

The woman was equipped to block her right eye with her right arm whilst making an attempt to struggle off Smith with her remaining arm, documents condition. As Smith tried out to gouge her eyes, he allegedly explained, “You are likely to die.”
