This building at 1109 Central Ave. is the intended site of a rehabilitation project. It has a storefront on the first floor and apartments on the second and third floors. The Fort Dodge City Council on Monday endorsed the developer’s application for state tax crediits to help finance the project.

A Des Moines developer is interested in remodeling some downtown Fort Dodge apartments and constructing some townhomes.

DEV Partners is proposing to build a 33-unit building called Second Avenue Brickstones along Second Avenue South between Ninth and 10th streets. It would be a $5.5 million investment.

In 2018, JMAE LLC of Kansas City, Missouri, proposed building townhouses there, but the plan never advanced.

DEV Partners is also proposing renovation jobs at 1109 Central Ave. and 700-702 Central Ave.

The building at 1109 Central Ave. is a three-story structure that has a storefront on the first floor and a total of six apartments on the second and third floors. DEV Partners is proposing $180,000 worth of work there.

This vacant house at 511 S. 12th St. was purchased by the Fort Dodge City Council Monday evening. It will be demolished this fall, along with a large vacant house on the corner of Fifth Avenue South and 12th Street.

The building at 700-702 Central Ave. has two storefronts on the first floor and six apartments on the second floor. The company is proposing $160,000 worth of renovations there.

The City Council on Monday endorsed DEV Partners’ applications for Workforce Housing Tax Credits from the state.

No one from the developer addressed the council and there was no discussion by the elected officials.

Also on Monday, the council purchased a vacant house at 511 S. 12th St. from Brown Rentals LLC, of Fort Dodge, for $25,000. That house and a larger one next door at the corner of 12th Street and Fifth Avenue South will be demolished this fall to create room for future development.
