EAST CHICAGO — Two family members ended up displaced by a blaze that broke out in a two-story condominium creating Thursday evening, a Fireplace Department official reported.

East Chicago firefighters responded about 7:30 p.m. to the creating, in the 4000 block of Fir Street, to find significant smoke coming from the composition, stated Fireplace Main Anthony Serna.

Gary units arrived to aid, and the flames have been extinguished in about 35 minutes, Serna stated.

No just one was injured in the course of the fireplace. The constructing was broken, but not ruined, Serna explained.

“They were being equipped to rapidly include the hearth and preserve the framework so it was not a whole reduction,” Serna claimed. “I just want to say very good position to the crews and their tricky function.”

Red Cross was termed out to help the displaced folks.

The cause of the fireplace remained under investigation Friday. It did not appear to be suspicious in nature, Serna reported.

East Chicago councilwoman Stacy Winfield urged citizens of the city’s fourth district to pull with each other for the displaced families.

“I’m asking that you retain them in your prayers,” she wrote in a Facebook submit. “I’m not absolutely sure who they are right now. If any one is familiar with who they are, remember to permit me know.”
